We have invited three high school seniors to share their high school and college application experiences with you. It will be an open discussion to answer questions that middle/high school students and/or parents may have about their high school experiences and preparing for college, addressing topics such as AP classes, extracurricular and leadership activities, sports, art, etc.

AP Prep & College Application Portfolio Class - For high school students

US Arts is planning to open a summer art portfolio class for students who are already in high school and would like to utilize their fine art to enhance their college applications. The objective of this program is to help our high school students develop a strong college application art portfolio while advancing their fine arts education.

Plein Air Drawing Experience - Sunday, Feb. 26th

We're pleased to announce the Plein Air Drawing Event held on Sunday, Feb. 26th. It will be from 1-5pm at the Rancho Bernardo Winery.

This is a great opportunity for your child to enjoy the outdoors while learning how to draw from nature. Parents are also welcomed to stay for the day.

Also, this event is for students 13 yrs and older. Mr. Rod will be teaching this event. Please sign up ahead of time with the front desk. Please note space is limited.

Please also find below detailed directions to the winery:

Meet in the lower south east parking area called the Merlot parking lot. This part of the winery is the most open and spread out while still being within eyesight. It is convenient for the restrooms and gives more options for subject matter.


Parents can enter through the Syrah parking lot (Directions 1)  by the glass studio,
and walk to the area by the bathrooms and the Vineyard room on the map 
or they may enter from Old Winery Road and park in the Merlot lot. (Directions 2)

Go North on the 15
Exit West Bernardo/Pomerado Road
Turn Right on West Bernardo/Pomerado Road
Turn Left on Paseo Del Verano Norte 

Drive to the Bernardo Winery entrance on the right Syrah Lot.

OR

2.
Go North on the 15  Exit West Bernardo Road.
Go past Pomerado Road then turn left onto Vale Verde Road. 
Go to the end of Valle Verde and turn left on Old Winery Road Look for the entrance to the Bernardo Winery Merlot Parking lot on the right before the end of the road.

Digital Art Class starting Sunday, 1/15 with Mr. Rod from 11-1pm

Dear U.S. Arts Parents,

Happy New Year! We will offer Digital Art Class starting Sunday, 1/15 with Mr. Rod from 11-1pm. This will be both an Introductory & Intermediate class exploring various areas of Photoshop.

If interested, we recommend bringing the following supplies for the class:

-A laptop (can be either PC or Mac)
-A graphics tablet
-Photoshop software (preferably CS5 version but older version is also acceptable)

Winter Art Camp for December 19th - 23rd

In addition to the regular art classes, we will have Winter Art Camp for December 19th - 23rd. We will offer:
 
*Art lessons
*Academic worksheets (Reading comprehension, Math, and Logic)
*Creative Writing workshop
*Fun games and exercises
 
Please see the attached flyer for details and registration form to enroll early. A 10% discount is offered to the 2nd child.
