Summer AP Art Portfolio Course 2012

This course is designed for current high school students who would like to utilize their fine art to enhance their college applications or planning to take AP Studio Art.  This course is highly intensive, focus on producing high quality artworks to be used in the college application and/or AP fine art portfolios.

Objectives of this program:

  •          Get a head start on your AP studio art: If you are planning to take the AP studio art in your high school, this summer program can help you boost your techniques, give you a head start in constructing your art portfolio with high quality art works. Especially for those students who has plan to major in visual art related fields, or those who are going to take multiple AP courses in the coming school year. As you may know, the AP visual arts grade requires submission of an art portfolio with about 12 pieces in breadth and 12 pieces in depth.
  •           Build art portfolio for College application: Help our high school students developing a strong college application art portfolio while advancing their fine arts education. As you may know, when a selective college evaluates applicants, they look at the SAT test scores, GPA, achievements, commitments and personality of a student. For highly selective colleges, there are an overwhelming number of applicants who meet the GPA and SAT requirement. Therefore, other attributes of the applicant becomes a very important (sometime deciding) factor in getting your students admitted into their desired colleges. All of these colleges accept fine art as a supplementary application material, along with music recordings, performing art videos and athletic records.  A good fine art portfolio can showcase the achievement, commitment and personality of the applicants to the college admission office.

Course description:

Each student will start with a private consultation to plan the students' portfolio according to student's objectives (supplementary for none art majors, art related majors, AP Prep who plans to take AP Arts). Together we will create a personalized plan for the portfolio to illustrate the student’s strength and personality. Each student will produce a number of art pieces of different style and media. Student will be matched to a specific teacher who is the expert and specializes in that area of the student’s need.

Please contact us if you like to know more about our programs. Or contact office 858-484-7690  to arrange the free consultation.

For the past several years, there are many US Arts students who have submitted their portfolio as a supplementary material for none art major to highly selective colleges, and as a part of their formal application to art related majors. We believe their art portfolios are a big plus in helping their successful applications.
