What you will learn:
Thanksgiving: Celebrations and Food Fun
Cornucopia of Imagination
Students will draw a large basket and carefully fill it with their favorite foods, candies, or toys. They are encouraged to be creative by adding their own unique ideas and using bright, fun colors to make their artwork lively and engaging.
Pumpkin Pie Slice
Students will create a single slice of pumpkin pie on a round plate. Students are encouraged to add their own tasty details like fruits, whipped cream, sprinkles or even a smile smiling face.
Thanksgiving Parade Balloons
Think of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade with big balloons shaped like characters, animals, and food floating above the walkers. Students are encouraged to “Imagine their favorite food as a huge balloon in the sky!” At the end of camp, students will make a wall “parade” with balloons and colorful strings, cutting paper food shapes to look like they are floating on the wall.
Winter: Imagining a Winter Wonderland in California.
Imagine Snow in California
Imagine: What if it snowed in California?
Create paper snow globes — students will draw their own California-in-snow landscapes on large round paper, then slide it into a wood holder.
Glitter Land
Make sparkling winter landscapes with lots of glitter, snowy paint, and sequins.
Students are encouraged to imagine mountains, trees, skiing, sledding, and cozy cottages with holiday lights — all covered in sparkles.
Winter Animals at Play
Create simple yet charming masks or puppets of various winter animals using markers, watercolors, cotton balls, and glue for a hands-on craft experience. Students will use their creations to play fun and engaging animal games such as the "penguin waddle race" and the "polar bear crawl" to bring winter creatures to life.
